Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he finally felt ready to share openly about his deep grief.
"Enough time has gone by that I can now express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began passing more hours together I realized this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob valued immensely. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I think of you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with the cast, and he comprehended the human predicament of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, after an appeal from the LAPD.
A court order put a security hold on the cases to prohibit the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" connected to the ongoing investigation.
The Medical Examiner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a record noting the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
