World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second consecutive season.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – which included retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Year of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open in May. She remained the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first player to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka finished the season with a sixty-three to twelve win-loss record, and picked up a record eleven million pounds in earnings.

She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is scheduled to face 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "elevate women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Other WTA Award Recipients

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and returning to the sport at the start of this year.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned beyond the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after capturing their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after advancing to five championship matches.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the year-end number one award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
