Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and eventually parting ways with former mentor Cervara.

Currently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - peaking in a hard-fought three-set victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents his first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six finals, comprising in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to doubt if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and play aggressively, supported by an enhanced serve.

He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his initial professional title, took control to create a final set.

The opponent rescued four initial opportunities in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
